[Mobile & widescreen support]

[Friday, January 31st, 2025]

<hrsize="1"noshade>

After a long battle with spaghetti code, we finally managed to make our website have the "Responsive Web Design". Now you can view this website on your phone without having to turn on the Desktop mode!
<spanid="smoltext">The websites content has also been adjusted for more comfortable content viewing on widescreen resolutions.

We moved the top bar navigation to the side, so everything is in one place & we also finished our <ahref="donate.html"id="adless"style="color:white; text-decoration: none;">donation page so if you want to pitch in a euro or two, now you can.

We moved all the patch notes from our Discord server to here, so if you're curious about our history & progression, you can check it out <ahref="patchnotes.html"id="adless"style="color: white; text-decoration: none;">here!
<spanid="smoltext">I think there are some new patch notes from today!

This website's code is now open source & you can check it out at <ahref="https://git.x1b.dev/waterjones/y2k.website"id="adless"style="text-decoration: none; color: white;">git.x1b.dev!
<spanid="smoltext">Contributions for making our website more optimized are welcome as well.

We have moved from quakenet.org to oftc.net for our IRC chatroom.
<spanid="smoltext">You can use the <bstyle="color:grey;">/connect irc.oft.net command to connect to the server and <bstyle="color:grey;">/join #y2k.cs command to join our chatroom on your prefered IRC client. Or you can simply use the built-in qwebirc interface on our <ahref="irc.html"id="adless">IRC page.

We're also happy to announce that you can now find us on <ahref="https://wiby.org/"id="adless"style="color: white; text-decoration: none">wiby.org! So from now on, we will have a cool looking wiby.org badge at the bottom of our site with plenty of other late 90's inspired badges.
<spanid="smoltext">For those who are unaware, this search engine indexes old look-alike webpages with simple html code but you can also <ahref="https://wiby.org/submit/"id="adless">submit your own page on their search engine which is what we did. Didn't expect us to actually turn up on their search engine so that's pretty awesome!

[Website changes]

[Friday, January 24th, 2025]

<hrsize="1"noshade>

After a few days of work, we have improved our website. We have added a few new pages that you can go & visit if you're interested. We also applied lots of changes so lets get started!

Instead of having only the right side panel that's displaying our newest discord members, we now also have a left side panel displaying a simple site nagivation & communication. The left side panel is present on all pages. We also made the right side panel show the best three #Deathmatch&#Classic players.
<spanid="smoltext">Considering this page is static & that everything is being updated by hand, the information on the right side panel might not always be correct.

We have a screenshot gallery now! You can send your own screenshots to our <ahref="mailto:y2k.cs@proton.me"id="adless"style="color:white;">email. The screenshots can be both hilarious & boastful, tho toxic ones won't be appreciated.
<spanid="smoltext">We would highly appreciate if the screenshots were taken in an aspect ratio of 4:3. Any screenshots that were taken in any other aspect ratio will be automatically dismissed unless the screenshots are stretched but retain 4:3 aspect ratio after editing.

We have "integrated" an IRC webchat into our website. Now you can chat with your friends the old fashioned way! If you're interested in using a standalone IRC client, we highly recommend checking out <ahref="https://pidgin.im/"id="adless"style="color:white;"target="_blank">Pidgin!
<spanid="smoltext"> Pidgin is only compatible on Windows & Linux. If you're using MacOS, there's <ahref="https://adium.im/"id="adless"target="_blank">Adium.

We have a Guestbook!
Now you can leave a comment regarding this website, our commmunity, our servers or just say hi!
<spanid="smoltext"> Bad actors will get their comments deleted & probably banned from commenting on the guestbook.

The fonts on our website have changed from a default user font to a web safe font. This was done in order to make our site have a more overall consistent look on all web browsers & to accommodate for resolutions of the past. Here's the first example:

<imgsrc="example1.png"alt="First Example"class="clickable-image"title="You can click & hold on the image to make it bigger.">

The default font on my system is "Trebuchet MS" at the size of twelve pixels so the text is a bit too big for this resolution.
<spanid="smoltext">Screenshot taken at 800x600 resolution.

By changing to a smaller font, we not only made the website load properly on a lower resolution, but we also managed to make the site look more closer to the era of the 2000's:

<imgsrc="example2.png"alt="Second Example"class="clickable-image"title="You can click & hold on the image to make it bigger.">

Now everything fits perfectly.
<spanid="smoltext">Screenshot taken at 800x600 resolution.

<pid="smoltext">Even tho the fonts should be persistent on all web browsers & operating systems, there could be a small chance of it not being rendered correctly.

That should wrap up this post. If you have any burning questions, you can always leave us an <ahref="mailto:y2k.cs@proton.me"id="adless"style="color:white;">email. Hope to see you all on our servers!

[Full Release]

[Friday, January 17th, 2025]

<hrsize="1"noshade>

Finally, after a little over a year of ups and downs, we finally got a full release! We got both #Deathmatch&#Classic servers working 24/7 & we got a website working too which you're viewing at this very moment! Everything is finally falling into it's place.

We did a lot of changes with this release - mostly making our servers as vanilla as possible. We removed a LOT of maps, only keeping the default ones while adding a few more popular community made ones. You can now check the current map list in the top bar. We also removed unused in-game commands such as /rs! And for those who played here while the servers were in testing phase might remember music playing when joining in. That has also been removed for the foreseeable future. Overall a massive overhaul!

We're finally moving into the right direction & We cannot wait to see you all playing on our servers!
